Recommendations for the adaptation of natural tourism to people with special needs

On 30 June, in Lithuania, one of the activities of the project “green routes without barriers” took place in the Gražutes Regional Park Administration – the development of recommendations for the adaptation of natural tourism to people with special needs. The recommended recommendations will help to ensure the accessibility of natural tourism objects to different groups of society. The developed material will be published and will be freely available on the website of all project partners.
The process of drawing up recommendations discussed issues of national legislation for the application of infrastructure to people with special needs, which are slightly different in each of the countries. Similarly, the views of experts on the creation of environmental facilities will be heard, which will help to develop qualitative technical solutions (sketches) that will accurately identify the forms and parameters of the facilities, ramps, information stands, lighting, fencing and natural trails to be accessible to people with special needs.
It was previously reported that the project would result in the creation of a natural trail and a boat berth in the Razna National Park area, in Lithuania – Gražutes Regional Park – an outdoor class, a water route and visitors' centre, while in Belarus – the village of natural trails and visitors in Zaborjes village. These objects will be adapted to people with special needs.

The total eligible costs of the project are EUR 172 337.90, of which 155 104.11 EURO is co-financing of the European Neighbourhood and Partnership Instrument for Latvia, Lithuania and Belarus, while EUR 17233.79 - the co-financing of the partners.
The project is jointly implemented by the Nature Protection Board as a leading partner, the Dagda municipality council (Latvia), the Dagda Disabled Brotherhood “Nema” (Latvia), the Regional Park of Gražutes (Lithuania), the Vilnius Disabled Society (Lithuania) and the national nature protection company “Eko-Rossi” (Belarus), associate partners - the Latvian Organisation for the Cooperation of Persons with Disabilities SUSTENTO (Latvia) and the Unified organisation of the Vitebsk public association “Republic of Latvia's wheelchair users”.
