Winners in the competition “Garden” – Students of the Rēzna primary school
For the third consecutive year, Rēznas primary school pupils participated in the plant breeding competition “Darzurch”. For five months, from January to May, we cultivated three interesting plants: bush-cidonia, coasts maple and willow, documenting the progress of growth, as well as making observations and taking note of the conclusions in the “plant journal”.
Our school pupils participated in a competition with great interest and persistence, as shown by the results obtained. 120 individual and 130 team works from Latvian schools were sent for evaluation. The task of the jury, in determining the winners, was not easy, because a thorough, beautifully designed and creatively replicated work was very much. Class 3 pupil Daniels Mošerenoks – 1 st place, 6 th grade school student Aija Muravska – 2 nd place, 6 th grade school student Lāsma Kowalevska – 4 th place was recognised as the best performers of individual works. In the team competition, our school team “plantations”, which took part in Elina Batare, Erica Katkovsky and Kaspars Anches, won 2 nd place by going to the team “bees” from Primary 1 st Primary School. The second head of the Rēzna primary school, “Small buds”, won 3 rd place. At the end of the competition we were invited to participate in the exploratory event in the botanical garden of Latvia.
During the event, we found out how the other participants in the competition were lucky, shared their impressions and experience on the cultivation and care of plants, and also engaged in the various activities related to horticulture. IN THE guides of THE LU botanical garden, the pupils went into the excursion through the palm house and studied the collection of plants to learn more about plant seed and germination, the correct irrigation and copying of cuttings, and the knowledge of their knowledge in the recognition of tree leaves. A practical plant propagation masterclass was also held for pupils, during which children were able to plant a plant on their own and take them in order to take care of it in future.
All the winners received gratitude, a familiar gardener calendar, a “illustrated junior” subscription for the whole year, as well as a free nature museum visit and a gift card for a trip to the science centre “blue miracles.” We have a great deal of pleasure and satisfaction about the results achieved and a nice visit to THE botanical garden OF LU.
Thank you for all our school's determined children and teachers who entered the plant-growing competition “Darzurch” to make our world greener and more beautiful! We will look forward to a new production competition for plants. Thank you very much for Stolerova parish manager Vitaly Muravsky, who took care of the bus to get to Riga.
