Milka Castle Mound

The castle mound is a detached hill on the northern shore of the bay at the western end of Lake Salaja, near the source of the Malta River from Lake Salaja. The hill, oriented in the E - W direction, rises 27 m above the lake level. The slopes of the castle mound are equally steep, only on the eastern side they are flatter. The Milka castle mound was cleaned up by a local businessman and a statue of the Virgin Mary was installed there, which testifies to the faith of the inhabitants of Latgale in the Virgin Mary, the Mother of Christ, and the belief in the existence of God.
