Projects

Colourful and patterned, large and small stockings, along with laced peppercakes, travel to the paramedics and the homes of the homes on Christmas Eve. The socks' knitting promotion for “needy feet” was one of the biggest works done by THE volunteers OF Viļānu in the “volunteering urban” project.

28 admitters took part in the promotion, with a total of 105 stockings.

Approximately 60 socks will be delivered today TO Viļānu hospitals and medical doctors, while the rest are planned to be given to the inhabitants of the nearby homes.

The leaders of the initiative were Viļānu active residents, but the invitation to participate in the promotion also referred to the surrounding parish and the Rēzekne city handmen who wished to admit their affection and good wishes in warm socks. The lower road was covered by stockings given by the association “accompaniment” from Jçkabpils municipality, Dunavas civil parish.

“Knitting stockings - that is my heart,” said Ilze Valeniece, a volunteer project member, who, within a month and a half, took almost 30 pairs of stockings – 15 of them will receive their friends and friends, while 12 were given to the stock “needy feet”. Ilze was also involved with his relatives, the sister of eight pairs, and the cousin - 14 pairs of socks.

The participants in the volunteering project say that this was the most sincere and best project activity for the time being, but not the only one. For example, together with stockings, the gifts were prepared for Christmas, THE children of THE Viļānu association of educational institutions and the art school made more than 300 reflective angels of moisture-resistant polyethylene sheets which were decorated in THE centre of THE city of Viļānu and the parish of the association.

Volunteering activities will be carried out within the framework OF the European Union “URBACT” project “Volunteering Cities +” (volunteering city). Together with the municipality of Rezekne, partners from Portugal, Slovakia, Greece and Cyprus (leading partner) also participate in the project. The aim of the project is TO create AN active population group OF Viļānos who, involving co-workers, will pursue various volunteering activities. As reported BY THE Viļānu volunteer group coordinator for Morozova, the project will take place until the end of 2022, and a total of 26 different activities and creative workshops are planned at this time. We call for part of this voluntary movement to participate in project activities, as well as to tell and realize your ideas!
