Calls for the 9 th International Latgalistic Conference dedicated to the 140-year anniversary of Franz Kemp

As the centuries of Latgale Congress (2017) and Latvia (2018), the Rēzekne Technology Academy, in cooperation with the Latgalian cultural association, organizes a series of events, honouring the most visible representatives of the First Latgalian awakening: Francis Trassu, Nicodema Ranana, Franz Kemp.
Latgalistic conferences have so far been: St. Petersburg (Russia, 2008), Rezekne (Latvia, 2009), Greifswald (Germany, 2010), Poznan (Poland, 2011), Riga (Latvia, 2012), Achinsk (Russia, 2013), Rezekne (Latvia, 2014), Vilnius (2015, Lithuania). As a continuation of the tradition, the conference will be held in Rēzekne in 2016, on 30 November - 1 December, and a 140-year anniversary of Franz Kemp will be devoted.
Conference tēmas:
- The centuries of Latgale Congress, the contribution of public and cultural workers to realising the idea of statehood
- ethnic, territorial, national, etc., their representation in border culture and language
- intercultural interactions: effects, typological similarities and differences in folklore, literature, media space, museum activity
- IT and museum activities, possibilities for modernisation of the humanitarian sector
- Latgalian language affects other border languages
- Latgalian languages, methodological aspects of curricula
The application for conference (participant's questionnaire and referral annotation up to 1500 characters including spaces) is expected until 20 September 2016 at the address: ilga.suplinska@ru.lv.  
During the conference, there will be a computer game about Latgale cultural and public employees “Isapazeisim!” presentation, literary musical Andrejday event, meeting with border young artists: musicians, poets. A more detailed programme of cultural events will be added to the conference programme. 
Working languages of the Conference: Latvian, Latgalian, English, Russian.
For reference:
Francis Kemps (1876 –1952), publisher, cultural and social worker, publisher, born in Makashan parish in Sprudzev (tag. Griškānu parish). The first Latgalian awakening employee, one of the founders of Peterpils Latvian Musical Society (1903), the First Latgalian newspaper “light” (1905 –1906), the newspaper “Austra” (1908), the publisher and editor of the calendar “Daugava” (1905 –1914). A book about Latgale Latvian past: “Latgalians” (1910), “Latgale fate” (1938, 19912) and author of other historical, published, religious, literary works.
In 1917, he took part in the historic congress of Latgale (26-27.04, after the new style – 9-10.05), with the congress of the members of the members of the members, because there was no clear agreement and guarantee requirements for the provision of Latvian self-determination in the field of language, faith and administrative administration.
There has been the first head of the city of Rezekne during the Republic of Latvia, the Constitutional Meeting and the Saeima deputy, a member of the Minister for Transport. He was deported to Siberia in 1949, died in Mikhailovka, Tomsk District, in 1991, in the grave of Zvirgzden.
