The association ESTO shall implement the activities of the public participation in the project “listen. You know.“ Do it! ”
THE Rēzekne municipality is one of 27 non-governmental organisations that received funding in 2020 in the first strategic project “Democracy Culture” financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through THE EEA and Norway Grants Programme “Active Citizens' Fund”. Five Latgale non-governmental organisations received support in this project competition. At the moment, the first activities of the three-year project “listen, see.” Act! ”, which aims to promote public participation in democratic processes and promote the civic activity of the people of Latgale region.
Within ten years, the association ESTO was active in the field of cultural and cultural education, attracting financial resources and organising various events of art, music and dance in Rezekne and Rezekne District. In recent years, support for the European Citizens' Integration Fund, the support programme “Europe for Citizens” and the European Union Erasmus + project competitions have been received, with valuable experience forming 19-series audio readings for the Inga Abel book “klūgu monk”, participating in the activities of European peoples festival in various European countries.
Project “listen.” You know. “Action!” financed by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway through THE EEA and the Norwegian Grants Programme “Active Citizens' Fund” aims to contribute to the participation of generations by involving the population of different age groups in joint activities contributing to public participation. The total funding of the project is EUR 99 267.78.
At the end of 2020 and the first months of 2021, several project activities have started: “A12. The road to Latgale“ Eu and we ”reports the positive experience of Latgale non-governmental organisations; the project team has started to gather information on the development of Latgale District Development Programmes, calling on the public to express their views and proposals by promoting cooperation between municipalities and non-governmental sectors. The current trends of the culture of democracy and global issues through the local prize are dealt with in a series of podcasts“ come here, parunuosim! ”in series. Information about planning processes, public opinion, Latgale non-governmental sector, podcasts series topics and other useful information will soon be published on the newly created website www.comibas.lv. The new website will also allow other non-governmental organisations of similar content who do not have their own web page to deploy the necessary and up-to-date information.
Project “listen.” You know. “Do!” partners are Bergen (Norway) Latvian cultural school “Bergausis”, who will participate in the preparation of project activities, dissemination of information, several project activities and workshops in Latvia, thereby strengthening Latvian citizenship and promoting the participation of diaspora in civil processes in Latvia.
Project “listen.” You know. “Action!” manager Inara Groce calls for the latest news on the social sites Facebook, Instagram, and soon also on the website biedribas.lv on the activities of the coming months of 2021, when the restrictions imposed in the country will be softened – there will be an opportunity to apply for participation in political education workshops, the discussion cycle “talk of important”, where we will talk to the producers of cinema, literature or musical works, as well as talk and painting workshops “democracy and art”, which will take place in various cities, provinces and parishes of Latgale.
