The festival's work motto: “We're Latvia!” Latvia – We Are! ”
IX International etno festival “Gosti” is ideally disclosing the pleasure of waiting for guests (in Latgalian language – gosti), welcoming and joining the joy. The Etno festival “Gosti” (at the beginning of the “National Cultural Festival”) is held every second year in Rezekne and participates in national collections of different nationalities. This year it is dedicated to the centuries of Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia, Finland and Poland and will bring together participants from all centennial countries.
The festival calls for a singing, amazing with musical works, linking the People's Art and History values to modern trends. The festival's origins are to be found in the activities of the active and systematic national association of Rezekne, which takes the form of a desire to identify and preserve their ethnic identity. The purpose of the festival is to reveal and show the ethnic cultural values of minorities living in Rēzekne, Latgale and other parts of Latvia, including their integration and development in today, through the Music, dance and rituals of the People.
Organized by the cultural house of the National Society of Rezekne and the local government agency “Rezekne Cultural and Tourism Centre”, is supported by the city council of Rezekne, the Rēzekne municipality council, the State Culture Capital Foundation.
The festival takes place within the framework of the national centenary of Latvia.
