Projects

On December 1, 2016, the project acceptance of Latvian Investment and Development Agency (LIAA) at 14 regional business incubators across Latvia as well as Riga creative industry in business incubator starts. The incubators launched in September are planned to contribute to the development of fertile and innovative new entrepreneurs, thus both developing Latvian economy and promoting regional growth.
“Improving the business environment is one of the stages of the economic growth of the country. In order to support entrepreneurs directly in the start-up phase of entrepreneurship, a high-quality incubation environment in all regions of Latvia has been created within the framework of the business incubators programme. This support programme is an effective way to activate business start-ups, especially in regions. In business, the most difficult is the start when knowledge, experience and finance are often lacking. The support of business incubators will allow new businesses to go quickly and successfully through this stage of the start, so that they can further develop, grow and contribute to the economy of Latvia,” says the Prime Minister's member, Minister of Economics Arvils Ašadens.
The purpose of incubators is to support the creation and development of new, viable and competitive entrepreneurs, to provide natural persons and entrepreneurs with the environment necessary for the initiation and development of entrepreneurship, consultations, training and activities on general business issues, mentor support and grant co-financing.
THE Director of THE LIAA Andris Oak: “No one is more doubtful about the fact that Latvia's future is an innovative, exportable business that will be able to provide citizens with the necessary jobs throughout the country, stable prosperity and security for the future. In order for this future to come as soon as possible, the aid not only for the start of a new business, but also for the development of existing ones, is invaluable. Therefore, all fifteen business incubators established BY LIAA will provide the broadest opportunities both to develop their own ideas and to obtain valuable practical advice."
The new incubator programme also includes the so-called pre-incubation, in which entrepreneurs can test their business ideas and receive advice. Each business incubator creates a co-production room, or Open-Office, where both the pre-incubation process and the incubator can work, meet customers and create a special environment for sharing experience.
Incubators can receive all necessary support and services for business development. FOR all services, 50% co-financing will be applied, i.e. the total value of the service will be limited to 50% and the incubator will cover the other part of the service value accordingly.
Projects can be submitted to THE IDA website, in one of 15 business incubators (complete list of incubators here), as well as by post to THE central office OF LIAA in Riga, Pērse street 2. Information on the modalities of the application in the incubator and other information available ON THE website of THE LIAA www.liaa.gov.lv . THE IDAL business incubators are funded under the project “regional business incubators and creative industry incubators”.
