Meteu celebrations in Ozolmuiža civil parish

On February 9, the friendly Ozolmuižas parish family gathered in the Meteu celebrations. In the song accompaniment of the folklore “Uzulenes”, we went together to celebrate festivals in the vicinity of the mountain.
Indeed, the weather of this day pleased all the participants in the event. We had traditionally dressed in the masks. We sang and enjoyed the spring. We remembered the ways and beliefs of the Meteens, and we were able to compete with each other, and we went out of the hill with the children.
The girls have to eat and drink. We also enjoyed the barley groats with bacon, boiled the beast tea, and, of course, the sun after winter, giving it his love, eating a lot of delicious pancakes - the symbol of the sun.
We closed the event with a straw-doll burning through the winter until the next year and burned all the accidents, concerns, and bad thoughts.
