Professions in animation

Project No 8.3.5.0/16/I/001 “career support in the framework of General and Vocational Education Institutions”, pilot school Maltas, Kaunatas, Tiskad, Dricānu, Nautrēnu Secondary Schools, Reznas, Sakstagala Janis KCo, Study Development Support Measures in Classes 7-9 of the Primary School for Classes 4-9 of the Primary School and study 7-9, provided by the association “MULTENKULTEN”.
The aim of the event was to encourage young people to be interested in professions related to animation, to provide information on education and job opportunities.
A lecture was held in the first part of the activities, supplemented by graphic material and photographs on various professions in animation. The photo report was supplemented by a narrative of the work carried out by a representative of each profession, as well as a small narrative of a particular person who describes the profession. The characterising persons were selected in such a way as to reflect, as far as possible, the multi-layered nature of the profession, as well as the nature and talent of the character, which are useful in the professions associated with animation. It was interesting to find out what animation was, the main principles of animation, and the different ways of using animation today. It was appropriate for pupils to receive information about schools in Latvia and Europe, which are related to the professions surveyed, on how knowledge acquired in schools is used.
The lecture was designed in the alternative to the order of the creation of the animation film, which allowed pupils to perceive the overall view of the film.
The principle of the second part of the lesson was – get acquainted with, understand, create yourself! Prior to the practice, the lecturers demonstrate how the program and the technical equipment are operational. As a follow-up, the participants tested the animation filming tables themselves by working in the Stop Motion and drawing animation techniques, with a practical sense of how they work. Students had the opportunity to try a scenario-making, framing, image, background, form of motion, and filming. With previously prepared images from the animation film “Lupatins”, pupils were able to create a short film with the help of a camera and a professional animation program. At the end of the lesson, the lecturers shared their experience of how anyone interested in filming the film's home.
Every participant won both knowledge of the specificities of animation films and how to try as a variety of techniques in practice. The pupils were very grateful for the opportunity to get closer to the complex world of animations, its wide-ranging opportunities, as well as the practical feel of the animator role. In total, 734 pupils took part in the event.
