Business News

As long as the active drain season has not yet started, Latgale beekeepers have traditionally met in February to discuss developments in the sector, as well as to share their practical experience and observations in the development of the sector. The first start of the Latgale beekeepers conference is in 2016 when such a event was organised for the first time by the Latvian beekeeping association prize division. After a year, beekeepers were taken by Dagda, last year in Daugavpils, this year, the Latvian beekeeping society Rezekne division will be accepted by the representatives of the Latvian beekeeping society on 22 February, inviting everyone to Rezekne.
In order to be interesting and conference reports follow trends and developments in the sector, a conference is held annually. Balvi focused on the possibilities of beekeeping development in Latgale region, in Dagda was spoken about the export of honey, Daugavpils – on the use of beekeeping products in the recapitalisation. This year attention will be paid to the quality of honey and the potential factors affecting it and the possibilities for improving it.
The conference with reports will be held as domestic leading beekeepers, including members of the Rēzekne division, as well as beekeepers from Estonia and Russia.
Beekeeping has been an integral part of the economy since ancient times. Without the acquisition of direct beekeeping products (honey, pollen, bee bread, propolis, wax etc.), beekeeping plays a significant role in the pollination of agricultural crops. According to scientists, the total amount of indirect beekeeping is 10 times higher than the volume of direct production. About 80% of plants on earth are enomophiles, insects are needed to pollinate them. From insects about 4/5 plants are pollinated directly by honeybees. In the European Union, honeybees are believed to contribute, together with wild pollinators (bumble bees, lone bees etc.), an additional contribution to agriculture of EUR 22 billion.
During the event, a market for local craftsmen and domestic producers will be located in the premises of the municipality of Rezekne. In turn, after the conference, its participants are invited to visit the excursion AT Lūznavas Manor!
The conference is organised by: Latvian beekeeping association.
Support: Municipality of Rezekne, SIA Latvian Rural Consultation and Education Centre, Training FOR LEARN (Rural Economy Development in Rezekne District), Lūznavas Manor, Cruel honey, SIA Dore M.
