This year Latgale Day Riga will be able to feel Latgale in its hearts
Latgale Planning Region (LPR) in cooperation with Latgale municipalities and association “Latgale thematic villages” on 17 August 2019 from 10.00 to 19.00, in Riga, the sixth year in Riga is organized by Latgale Day Riga, in which the visitors and city festival visitors will be able to meet the travelling market, observe the work of amateurs, enjoy the Latgalian People's music, the folk songs and the joy of life.
In Latgale's craftsmen market, Riga festival visitors will be able to purchase benefits from Latgale thematic villages – scented, maple leaves and clone baked coarse bread, farm cheese, smoked meat, domestic sausages and fat, raspberry and strawberry home wine, real rural barley, herbal tea, traditional Latgale ceramics, soup from the large family boiler etc., and additional to all of them enjoy a smart and comfortable atmosphere – as Latgale!
In the area of independence, it will be possible to observe both the podiers' work with clay and the weaving of the weavers and the drying of the drying in the hill. The festival atmosphere, the musician and THE TV show manager Oscar Berzins, will be brightened by the presence of Latvian speaking language, the presence of Latgalian music.
In the course of the whole day, the families of the creative workshop will be held: a clay school, the building of flowers from natural materials, wooden games, a dry beast at the piracy of the latmeat, the basket-pinning workshop, the production of “žvurgzdins”, a polished tent for the smallest visitors.
Throughout the day, the event viewers with their songs will enjoy the youth capella “August” from Livans and “Atzele” from Vilaka, but with Latgale rich song ethnographic material from pl.: 13:30 to 14:00, the prize is presented by the folklore set “Olūts”. Around noon, from pl.: 12:00 to 13:20 event visitors with their songs will be pleased by the leader of Latgale pop/rok group Dabasu Durovys Group - Arnis Slobogenin.
Every guest will have a chance to learn about more than 50 bigger and less festive festivals, which increase the number of Latgale rich cultural events every year, get acquainted with the extensive travel opportunities in Latgale, which will be an opportunity to consult the tourism and information centre specialists from all Latgale. On the other hand, IT will be possible for BR employees to learn about business and remigration opportunities in Latgale.
These measures were welcomed by many hundreds of events and festival visitors.
The performance of the event from pl.: 18.30 to 19.00 will take place at Latgale Day visitors' singing with the chapel “August” and traditionally farewell with the song “Pi Distance long golds”.
The event takes place during “Riga festival 2019” and is included in the Riga City Festival Official programme, providing overall publicity and visibility among Riga residents and visitors.
Even a short look at Latgale's daily and festive life will help each of them understand the magic of Latgale.
