This summer it is planned to warn Silmalas pre-school educational institution

The United STATES Armed Forces Commander in Europe, in cooperation with THE US embassy in Latvia and the Rēzekne municipality, will launch a civil-military cooperation project AT Silmalas in the pre-school educational institution. In the framework of a project with US funding, the warmth of THE kindergarten facade of Silmalas will be performed, while the local government will change the roof of the garden.

Civil-military cooperation projects are particularly related to the involvement of Latvian and US military engineers with local entrepreneurs in their implementation. The basic work of the project will be performed by military engineers who will be able to improve their professional skills, while the supply of materials, technical expertise, as well as quality supervision in accordance with Latvian Construction Standards will be performed by local construction contractors selected in accordance with the procedures of the competition.

On April 12, potential contractors were invited to meet AT Silmalas in the pre-school educational institution to see the planned construction site, as well as to receive answers to unclear questions regarding participation in the competition and construction of construction works by the U.S. Armed Forces chief engineers and procurement specialists.

Civil-military cooperation projects help not only local authorities to organise public buildings, thereby providing better conditions for citizens, but also enable THE US and Latvian military engineers to develop their skills as well as cooperation with soldiers of other countries. Similar projects have been implemented in other parts of Latvia for several years, including repairs of the act hall at the 8 th Secondary School of Liepaja, the repair of the training tower Ventspils fire station, the replacement of the roof and the warmth in the 1 st secondary school of Ogre, the change of windows in the Alūksne E. Gimnia, and other projects.

It should be noted that such cooperation projects are implemented not only in Latvia but also in other countries, for example, in 2013, the United STATES Armed Forces surpluses in Europe financed and implemented 52 projects in 17 different countries with a total value of about US $11 million. Projects such as the renovation of the children's garden and fire depot in Moldova, the construction of a clinic in Estonia, the construction of a daily centre for children with special needs in Serbia and other projects in Europe were implemented.
