We are invited to visit the newly opened Nature Education Centre “Razna”

At the end of 2013, the Nature Education Centre (DIC) “Razna” was opened in Razna National Park area, Lipuškos, School Street. It is one of four natural education centres that have been created by the Nature Protection Board within the framework of the Estonian-Latvian-Russian cross-border cooperation programme “Promoting natural education – an effective means of building society's natural knowledge”. Similar centres are located in “forest house” in Ķemeri National Park, Koznu parish “Vecupîtes” in the National Park of Gauja and in the territory of Salacgriva North Vidzeme biosphere reserve.

Due to the fact that the project partners are the municipality of Dagda, a second centre for natural education has also been established in the territory of Razna National Park. It is located in Ezernieku parish Jaundomes Manor, but the exhibition is dedicated to Ezer and water residents (for communication: Armands Pudniks, 25960309).

But what is Razna at the centre of the nature education? The exhibition “acquaints and senses Razna National Park!” is set in the centre, which can be visited both independently and under the guidance of the centre staff. It is worth looking at it and feeling it with all the senses – seeing the magnification, feeling, passage, listening. A variety of tasks are expected at the activity tables: to determine the tree after its silhouette, to find the traces of animal activity displayed in the drawing, to choose the best place of residence for landings and graves, or to draw the distinctive features of the bright and rusty ants. The location of many objects and natural trails can be found on the Razna National Park chart.

THERE is a sensation trail in the vicinity of THE DIC to walk barefoot and feel the touch of natural materials to anyone.

In the past, it is possible to participate in the activities of natural sciences on specially protected areas of nature, the residents of Razna National Park in water, forests, meadow or the coast of lake. The activities take place both in premises and in nature. Lectures and activities are complemented by various environmental consciousness games. In 2013, a number of new games have been set up in 2013: “ecosystems”, “Latvian tree tang”, “river cleaning”, “Parkupols” and “good fungi”.

The Nature Education Center will organize wetlands day, water day, bird days and other events, seminars and creative workshops dedicated to biodiversity. If you want to walk into a large Liepukalna nature trail or stone path near Lipušku, find out something new, and solve different tasks, you can get the worksheets “miracles in the big Liepukalna” or Alghan adventures in the stone trail.

The visit to the Center for Nature Education is free but requires pre-registration by calling 29139677 or by writing regina.indrike@daba.gov.lv.
