Memorandum of Understanding: Peteris Gailums (22 February 1962 – 15 January 2017)
Last year, in Rēzekne's municipality, i met Latgale Podnieks Peter Gailums. The podiers knew he was fighting for life in the direct sense, trying to win a bad disease. But then, after receiving a long-legged bowl of green glaze from the master, i thought it would be all right, just as the hat had been soaked, pinned and talented, so that it would be all right, but it was different. Our Peter is no longer.
“Peteris Gailums was born in 1962 at the Ludza District (now Rēzekne municipality) in Rogovka. The ceramic studied at Nautrene High School, then from 1978-1982 studied clay skills in the ceramic section of the Central School of Art and Design of Rezekne (now Rēzekne University of Art and Design). She was trained by Anita Bernanes and Janin Gribuste. The ceramic, looking for the way to the People's potty, visited the workshops of many masters, respected the masterness of Adam Castle. In 1988 Peter brushed his hat and set up a workshop in Ilzeskalna parish. He burned the ceramic products in a fire ceramic burner of Latgale. Ceramic products were burned in both reduced and normal mode. From 1990, the ceramic was active in the industrial art studio“ Rēzekne District puzzles ”, from 2006 cooperated with the Latvian cultural foundation“ Pudnamku shula ”podiers. P. Gailum was always looking for something of his own, peculiar and peculiar. The museum of Latgale cultural history exhibits the works of Peter Gailums – candles, bowls, jars – most of them are formed in search of modern expressions in Latgale ceramics.”
I had ever prepared such a text for Peter Gailum, now the words must be used in the past because Peter is no longer... Maya has no husband, Ramona and Agritai are no longer dad. The bunch of podiers had become less than one decent workshop, who had the power to take a great deal with the Latgalian fire – to build Latgale ceramic burnt hat in Liepāja, to make up for Bauska's new palace of the furnace, to make a new workshop last year.
The family of Latgale podiers will always miss the joke of Peter Gailey, who is the spark of humor, and that there is no better place than Latgale in the world.
We are with family, friends, friends and colleagues at the time of sadness.
On Thursday, 19 January, the defaulting from Peter Gailuma will take place at 12.00 from Nautrene's most holiest Virgin of the Virgin, the Roman Catholic Church. On the ground, Peter would be lying in the graveyard of Gailums.
