Information on amendments to the Fisheries Law

Amendments to the Fisheries Act have entered into force on 26 June 2014. The amendment states that “the local government concerned shall be entitled to lease a part of the fishing right to self-consumption fishing for natural persons whose declared place of residence or the immovable property belonging to it is located in the administrative territory of that municipality, subject to the condition that in the public waters referred to in Annex 1 to the Civil Law, that fishing may be restricted to a fish trap limit”.
The lakes of the municipality of Rezekne, referred to in Annex 1 to the Civil Law, are as follows: Raznas, Chernostes, Dziļuta, Feimaņu, Islepoles, Ismera – Zogotu, Kaunatas, Luban, Meurane, Pušas, Rushon, Salai, Tiskad, Viraudas, Virtune, Zosna lakes.
In view of the amendments to the Fisheries Law, as from 1 January 2015, the municipality will no longer be able to divide the fish net limit into the above lakes, but only the fish trap limit.
The prohibition of these amendments does not apply to commercial fishing.
