Results of the competition project competition organised by the local government

This year, a record number of applications have been received in the Rēzekne municipality's business support project competition - 41 business ideas were submitted with total requested funding of 167 742.35 EURO. The territorial coverage of the projects applied for covers 18 parish counties of Rezekne. The highest demand for local government funding was this time in the field of tourism, where 14 projects were submitted, one of which was also a social enterprise.

The quality and creativity of the projects presented, therefore, it was not easy for the Commission to choose the most innovative and sustainable ones. A thorough analysis and evaluation of each project supported 15 projects for a total amount of EUR 60 000. It should be noted that, compared to the beginning of the project competition, the total amount of funding allocated to the local government has managed to increase more than twice - from EUR 25 000 to EUR 60 000 this year.

Local government funding was received by existing and emerging entrepreneurs in areas such as tourism, production, textiles, construction, wood processing and others. Supported projects in 10 parishes: four IN Kaunatas parish, two projects IN Nagļu and Vērēmu parish, while one application supported businessmen Ilzeskalna, Bērzgales, Ozolmuižas, Griškānu, Lendžu, Lūznavas and Pušas parish.

In this grant competition, additional points were received by social entrepreneurs, as the municipality of Rēzekenes has been implementing activities for the development and support of social entrepreneurship in the municipality of Rezekne for a second year. The local government will continue to work on creating more favourable conditions for social enterprises, understanding their large contribution not only to the business environment but also to societal societal objectives.

The projects were assessed by an independent and highly qualified jury, consisting of knowledgeable and experienced experts from a number of business-related institutions: the Rēzekne business incubator, the development finance institution “Altum”, the Rēzekne District Communities Partnership, the Rēzekne Technology Academy and the municipality of Rezekne.
