My Best idea

In the spring of the spring, the Rēzekne municipality of Rēzekne took up long visits to visitors -- the work groups of the Erasmus + project “My Best idea” from the Swedish Pitea and the Italian Laives municipalities and schools. The co-operation partner of the Rēzekne municipality in the realization of project activities is Sakstagala Jānis Kaidas elementary school and the Optional School of Gifted Children (ABFA) in Riga. Sakstagala J. KCo's primary school and ABPH allowed “to eat” his work, as the task of these two institutions was to show experience in the implementation of interdisciplinary learning, but the theoretical and practical lessons of the teams of all three countries were chaired by both the pedagogy doctorate, the associate professor Karine Oganisjana, and Marika Melne and Cynthia Bloommene, a teacher of the Optional School of the Gifted Children.
Anita Cercene, co-ordinator of the project “My Best idea” at Signagala J. KCo's primary school, acknowledges that today, schools have new challenges: the need to develop the skills of pupils' problems, cooperation, communication and learning. For a few years ago, looking for more interesting learning content, we found that the problems and situations of real life can be solved by using only the knowledge learned in several subjects. That is why Signagala J. KCo's primary school is dedicated to interdisciplinary teaching. We have tried to realize interdisciplinary learning in one hour when 2-3 teachers (music, Latvian languages, visual art) are working with pupils from different courses at one topic. For example, the teachers of history and visual art offered the theme “First World War refugees”, while the pupils, under the guidance of chemistry and household teachers, performed Pelnruce experiments within a number of hours, as Pelnruce had to be able to distinguish the wool yarn from cotton, find dishes with starch, soda, citric acid, etc. Our school also participated in the interdisciplinary idea competition of the municipality of Rezekne, which resulted in support for the realization of the idea “DO-RE-MI-FA”, thus providing teachers with the opportunity to cooperate and realise the idea in life. Since autumn, we have also done a more sophisticated task involving almost all of the 9 th grade students and teachers: we have dealt with a cross-disciplinary problem of building settlements on Mars. Pupils, in partnership and with physics, chemistry, biology, geography, Latvian language etc., created their own video film “Mars conquers”. The knowledge and skills acquired in the content of different learning subjects, as well as the search for additional information and the development of creativity “,” says A. Cercene.
She also concludes that students believe that such learning approaches enable them to show themselves in a non-traditional way, make more collaborative and communicate, develop thinking, follow-up skills and creativity. For teachers, of course, this means additional work by harmonising the content and evaluation criteria of learning with their colleagues, but it allows teachers to still and more try and understand how the idea is being implemented or solved in interdisciplinary learning.
Marika Melne, the school teacher of the Gifted Children's Optional School, says about the project conference in Rezekne Municipality: “For the second time there was an opportunity to meet Swedish and Italian colleagues in a joint conference in the context of the project“ My Best idea ”(my best idea), which is unambiguously one of the best ideas in this school year and will continue for two more years. The enrichment of experience with pleasant shared feelings when both daily and spring fatigue and language barriers are forgotten in enthusiasm.
By representing the “Optional School of Gifted Children”, IT was possible to share the lessons learned from almost 20 years by interdisciplinary working with intellectually gifted pupils. At the meeting, Rēzekne looked at both a general approach to intellectually gifted pupils and an insight into the topics that THE ABBEY pupils continued to work on Saturday when the conference participants had the opportunity to observe it in Riga.
The storage of their good ideas was complemented by both practical ideas at J.K. co-host school, watching interdisciplinary projects as a result of teacher co-operation, and laughing in theory-based and practice-approved ideas Dr. paed., associate professor Karine Oginisjana in the wonderful lectures, and also enjoying cultural events that enriched the conference programme and created great satisfaction for themselves. making it feel to the culture that we can truly proud of in front of foreign colleagues.
We are convinced that our guests were going back to their countries with satisfaction, internally enriched and with very large new ideas that would need more time to process … '
It must be acknowledged that the optimum preparation of the programme was possible in collaboration and working in the team, thus demonstrating in practice that the implementation of the project 'My Best idea' in life is a model of interdisciplinary action.
Thank you very much to all the organisers and partners who were enthusiastic and responsible for the preparation and implementation of the conference programme.
