Seminar on international cooperation in the protection of children's rights in Latvia and Europe

16 October from at At 13:00 to 15:00, a seminar on international co-operation in the protection of children's rights in Latvia and Europe will be held at the premises of the Rēzekne municipality (95 A, Rezekne).
The lecture will provide new information particularly relevant to the Orphan's courts in cooperation with the United Kingdom after BREXIT and also a new instrument for cooperation with regard to adult persons with limited capacity:
Changes and further cooperation with the Uk authorities after BREXIT;
Requests of Orphan's Court and clarification of information if the guardian has moved to a foreign country with a child.
Cooperation with foreign institutions (Norway, United Kingdom) on the basis of the Hague Convention of 19 October 1996 on jurisdiction, applicable law, recognition, enforcement and cooperation on parental responsibility and child protection measures.
Cooperation with foreign authorities on the basis of the Hague Convention of 13 January 2000 Convention on the International Protection of Adult Persons
Lecture Liv Upena - lawyer of the Ministry of International Cooperation of the Ministry of Justice. Degree: mg. sc.soc (Master of Social Sciences in sociology), Bc. jur. (Bachelor degree in law). Long-term work experience (10 years) in international cooperation in the protection of children's rights. He has worked in the protection of children's rights as a social worker at the social care centre “Riga”.
Seminar programme:
1. Topical issues of the provision of children's civil rights abduction and access rights;
2. Identification of the information necessary for the Orphan's and Custody Rights Protection Authority from foreign countries, differences in regulations, International regulation;
3. Declaration regarding the protection of Latvian nationals abroad, activities of the Orphan's court and participation in foreign court meetings;
4. Latest information on cooperation with Uk authorities after BREXIT.
A certificate will be issued for participation in the seminar.
