Youth summer work practice in Rezekne municipality
Is the middle of the summer when a variety of summer jobs take place in full vigour. The Rēzekne municipality's educational administration launched a call for funding for youth work practices in the summer period in May, in order to create an opportunity for young people to work in a paid summer job at one of the municipalities of Rezekne municipality. In total, EUR 53521,23 WAS allocated to the municipality budget from the municipality of Rezekne.
The first new staff started their work on 1 June. The number of jobs for young people in the summer months of 25 parish administrations is 161. Young people have the opportunity to work for up to two months with a minimum monthly salary, i.e. 3.5 or 7 hours per day, depending on the agreement, with a salary of 500 EURO per load, EUR 250 per half-time, respectively. All young people have a contract of employment, a income tax is withheld, a vacation allowance for the month or two worked is also calculated. Each young person has a mentor/job manager who determines the work duties to be performed, informs regarding occupational safety and health checks, as well as agree on the amount and load of the work.
Summer young people have not only a rest time but also a chance to get a job experience and collect money for a long time. The people surveyed have enjoyed their summer work and have not faced problems or negative emotions, on the contrary, the young people recognise that the work has provided them not only with additional pocket money but also acquired valuable knowledge and new experience to be used in the future.
